Who is WEFTA? |
Member Support The Board of Directors of WEFTA is made up of volunteers, who are professionals in their own fields, and all of whom have a long history of volunteerism with other non-profit organizations. The administrative staff necessary to oversee the daily operations of the organization, and to fulfill its obligations as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is provided as an in-kind donation by two engineering firms: Souder, Miller & Associates, based in New Mexico, and Aqua Engineering, based in Utah. However most of the work is actually provided on a volunteer basis by many of the personnel that work for either of the two engineering companies. |
Community Support The success or failure of an effort hinges on the members of the very community involved. WEFTA's initial ability to work in a certain area depends upon the invitation of the community itself, a clearly drafted proposal from a local water or sanitation committee, commitment by community members to perform all the labor, and a long-term agreement to maintain the system. |
Continuity Volunteer professionals make periodic trips to visit with prospective communities soliciting assistance from WEFTA, review progress of existing projects, and follow up after the work has been completed and the system is in operation. Through such site visits and periodic communication WEFTA remains in contact, year after year, with each community to ensure that clean drinking water continues to flow, and the sanitation system continues to function as designed. To date, all of our projects remain in operation. |
